The McGilloway Gallery was opened in 1984 by Ken McGilloway. It`s aims were to show the very best in contemporary Irish art, both traditional and modern, and equally important, to promote and encourage young emerging artists and allow them the opportunity of having their work shown commercially.

A recent exhibition held in the Orchard Gallery by The McGilloway Gallery

The Gallery is located in the basement of one of Derry`s finest Georgian buildings and inside the city`s ancient walled area. Within a short time of opening the McGilloway Gallery had quickly established an excellent reputation for showing important work, so much so that it now represents over fifty major artists from throughout the island of Ireland. The Gallery hosts at least seven exhibitions each year comprising either one person or group shows, and for the last three years has held very successful exhibitions in the U.S.A.
Visitors are always welcome and are encouraged to browse in the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of this unique gallery. With over two hundred paintings to choose from you might just recognize something from your own experience, but mostly you`ll get a privileged insight into the artist`s world and what it means to them.
