Mary Christie was born near Claudy Co. Derry where she still resides. Educated at Queen's University she taught for many years and continues to teach on a part time basis. Always interested in craftwork,
her initial interest was in knitwear design at which she was very successful. Mary attributes her success to a passionate love for the Irish countryside with it's changing moods and light. It also provides the inspiration for her highly individual style, one which has firmly established her as one of our most successful and popular artists. A frequent exhibitor at the R.U.A.
annual exhibitions she has also shown her paintings in Boston for the
last three years and had one of her paintings featured in The Boston Globe.
